PHOTOBOOK FAIR: Polycopies Paris 2025
Meet Buchkunst Berlin at the Polycopies Photobook Fair in Paris! We are excited to announce that “Buchkunst Berlin” will also be present this year during Paris Photo at Polycopies! From November 12 to 16, 2025, we warmly invite you to visit us aboard the Bateau Concorde-Atlantique on the Seine. There, we will present our photobooks and special editions, including our new release, “Thomas Hoepker DDR / East Germany – Colour Works 1972–1990.”
Especially on Saturday, November 15, we will dedicate a day to our affiliated photographers from the gallery, who will be signing their books at our booth.

Book Launch Thomas Hoepker DDR / East Germany – Colour Works 1972–1990: The GDR in Kodachrome colors! A comprehensive collection of photographs by Magnum photographer Thomas Hoepker from the vanished “other” German state – featuring many previously unpublished images! Includes an essay by Wolf Biermann. In 1974, Thomas Hoepker became the first West German photographer officially allowed to photograph in the GDR. He moved to East Berlin and traveled throughout the country, documenting the daily lives of people, capturing vibrant state parades with their banners and slogans, as well as the old inscriptions on the walls of decaying cities of the former workers’ and peasants’ state. In 1990, Thomas Hoepker became a chronicler of the GDR’s disappearance from history.
With his deep understanding and own humor, he describes life in the GDR, creating images of memory that allow us and future generations to understand and reflect on this time.

Katrin Jaquet – fam
fam combines the photo series (m)other, neg, and missing by Katrin Jaquet, in which she has modified her family’s photo archive to match her own ambivalent memories. Using photographed slide projections, digital overlays, and AI-generated images, she intertwines multiple timelines. At the same time, fam reflects on the medium of the album as a classic form of family archive with parchment pages, loose photos, and traces of torn images. fam is available as a printed book and as a handmade album.

Josef Wolfgang Mayer – Standing by the Wall – Berlin 1990
The photographs by Josef Wolfgang Mayer from the summer of 1990 depict the Berlin Wall, especially its breaches and remnants. They capture a specifically German-German landscape undergoing rapid change. The images feel slowed down compared to the rapid transformations of that time, merging historical perspective with the “here and now” of the viewer.
The series presents space as a triptych, expanding the image format into the realm of panorama. This creates an overview of a tiered urban landscape. Although the photos were taken in quick succession, we perceive the sequence as a homogeneous tableau. The triptychs require the viewer to mentally assemble the images into a cohesive landscape, creating a site of transformation that also thematizes one’s own dissolution and disappearance. Standing by the Wall – Berlin 1990 is available as a photobook and as a special edition with two prints.

Elliott Kreyenberg, Something Was Missing Within
Elliott Kreyenberg, a young photographer from Berlin, has created a compelling portrait of the claustrophobic aspects of masculinity with his latest work, “Something Was Missing Within.” After graduating from the Ostkreuz School of Photography in 2024, Kreyenberg has tackled a sensitive and profound topic in this project.
The book, which won the Athens Photobook Dummy Award, invites the viewer to delve into the complex world of male identity. Kreyenberg visually represents feelings of isolation and inner conflict through intimate snapshots and powerful compositions. The photographs are not only aesthetically appealing but also provoke thought about societal expectations of men.

Jesse Marlow – Don’t Just Tell Them, Show Them, Sling Shot Press
“Don’t Just Tell Them, Show Them” is a photobook by Australian photographer Jesse Marlow, created primarily in Australia between 2004 and 2012. Marlow has a keen sense of color, pattern, and subtle humor. His work invites exploration of the ambiguities of everyday life, often hidden beneath the surface.
Each composition in this book is thoughtful and reflects Marlow’s ability to find the wonderful in the ordinary. The photographs invite viewers to reflect on the often-overlooked details of urban landscapes and daily life. Marlow effortlessly connects the visible with the invisible, encouraging a deeper consideration of the human experience. Arthur Bondar, Olga Ignatovich. In the Shadow of the Big Brother
Olga Ignatovich: In the Shadow of the Big Brother is a photobook honoring the legacy of Olga Ignatovich, one of the few female photojournalists who documented World War II from a Soviet perspective. The book is based on her recently discovered archive of front-line negatives and includes over 250 photographs taken from the start of the war to its end. The images depict, among other things, the liberation of Rzhev, the advance of the Red Army, and the liberation of the concentration camps Majdanek and Auschwitz. Notably, the photographs from Auschwitz were included in the materials of the Nuremberg Trials. Olga Ignatovich’s works provide not only historical insights but also a more human perspective on the war. The book comprises 494 pages in the format of 170×240 mm and will be published in a limited edition of 500 copies in Riga in 2025.
