Presentation and Talk with Thomas Gust at the Leica Gallery, Paris
On November 14, 2025, at 19:30, a presentation will take place at the Leica Store Paris Village Royal as part of the exhibition “In Conversation: A Photographic Dialogue between Thomas Hoepker and Edouard Elias.” Thomas Gust, curator and photography lecturer, will introduce the new publication “Thomas Hoepker – DDR / East Germany – Colour Works 1972–1990,” which brings together classic works by the Magnum photographer from the former GDR along with many previously unpublished images.
This event provides an excellent opportunity to discover Thomas Hoepker’s empathetic perspective on life in the GDR through artistically exceptional photographs. Christine Kruchen, filmmaker and wife of the late photographer, who has managed Thomas Hoepker’s archive for many years, will also be present. The presentation will be held in English and will include a conversation with Edouard Elias, whose photographs are currently exhibited alongside Hoepker’s at the Leica Gallery.
In the second part of the evening, Leica photographer Edouard Elias will discuss his recent photographs from Syria in conversation with Thomas Gust. These works are displayed in dialogue with Thomas Hoepker’s images from various series on the gallery walls.
The presentation will be in English.
